This course will focus on the writing of nonfiction and the forms of the English essay. Readings will be drawn from a range of genres, both nonfiction and fiction, including memoirs and profiles, historical and contemporary commentary, short stories and novels.

This course gives preference to students whose primary fluency is in languages other than English or who are fluent in more than one language; it is open to anyone interested in a course with a cross-cultural focus. Admission to this course will take place during Orientation and Drop/Add in the semester in which it is taught.
