The course emphasizes attaining ease and fluency in oral expression through group discussion and achieving accuracy and stylistic felicity in writing. The thematic focus will be the history and culture of the city of Berlin. |

Fictional and documentary treatments of current social, cultural, and political issues in the German-speaking countries, including flims and recordings. Grammar review text.

Numerous short papers; vocabulary exercises; oral reports. Individualized work on grammar as needed. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
Regular attendance in class, at German films, and at events sponsored by the German Studies Department or the German House is expected. |
