Advanced Speaking, Writing, and Reading in Italian
ITAL 221
Spring 2010 not offered

This course is designed for students who have completed at least two years of college-level Italian or who have achieved equivalent competency through study in Italy. Our primary objective is to enhance reading, writing, and speaking skills through exposure to a variety of literary genres and cultural texts: from the medieval SONETTO to opera, from the modern ROMANZO (novel) to contemporary cinema. We will include different kinds of languages and jargons, such as movie scripts, newspapers, ads, bureaucratic forms, and Internet sites, etc. Writing exercises may be freer in form, may imitate the genres studied, or may be a mixture of the two.
