Recombinant DNA, Genetic Engineering and Cloning
MB&B 106
Spring 2007 not offered

Recombinant DNA technology has caused a revolutionary change in our ability to answer basic biological questions and to make progress toward solving major biomedical and agricultural problems. This course is designed to give students who are not biology or MB&B majors an understanding of this technology and its capabilities. The applications of this technology to genetic diseases, AIDS, cancer and improved therapeutic and agricultural products will also be examined. In the process, it is anticipated that students will gain insights into some of the basic concepts of molecular biology. Although high school courses in biology and chemistry are likely to be helpful, such prior courses are not required.
