Course Cluster: African Studies |
This course is designed to build on the skills developed in MUSC 445 and MUSC 446. The repertoire is brought to a performing standard, and more complex repertoire is learned. Students experience the intricacies of dance accompaniment while drumming and singing with the advanced West African dance class. The student ensemble will be asked to perform on (and possibly off) campus. |

Examinations and Assignments: Assessment is based on attendance, participation in ensemble music activities and class discussions, and (possibly) written assignments. Rhythms and songs are presented orally. Through practice, students master the assignments from one lesson to the next. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments: Students should pass the beginning and intermediate courses--MUSC445 and MUSC446. All MUSC 447 students are required to play for the West African Dance students. |
