This course is a study of recent attempts by philosophers to explain the nature of language and thought. The focus of the course will be on three of the central figures of the analytic tradition--Frege, Russell, and Wittgenstein. |

The level of this course is fairly advanced so previous exposure to basic methods of philosophical arguments and to the elements of logic is necssary. Only under exceptional circumstances will students who do not have the prerequisites be allowed to take the course. |
