History of Drama and Theater II
THEA 204
Fall 2010 not offered

This course examines the dramatic texts and performances of the late 19th and 20th centuries across Europe, the Americas, Africa, Canada, and the Caribbean. Similar to our previous investigation of pre-19th-century European theatrical practices, we once again consider the relationship between a text, its performance, its spectators, and its representative culture(s) within our analyses. We also explore the objectives of various playwrights and consider the ways in which they have used theater as a platform to stage their realities, concerns, and ideologies.
