Poems COL 290 Spring 2010 Section: 01   In close reading of selected poems by British and American writers, we will attend to mimesis and meanings; to relations of form, style, and content; to aesthetics, historical moment, and current appeal. Ballads, sonnets, songs, lyrics, odes, and dramatic monologues by poets from Chaucer's time to ours, including Shakespeare, Marvell, Donne, Anne Bradstreet, Milton, Wordsworth, Keats, Tennyson, Browning, Dickinson, Eliot, Yeats, Williams, Frost, Plath, Bishop, and Clifton.
