The Fiction of Toni Morrison

The course is an intensive and extensive study of fiction--and criticism--written by Toni Morrison. We will examine Morrison's construction of the interior and exterior landscapes of African Americans from slavery to the present. Topics will include her uses of language, history, folklore, religion, and her challenge to what she call "master narratives".
