This class offers advanced techniques on Korean traditional percussion music. The class will meet once a week for two hours. The ensemble will present a concert at the end of each semester in conjunction with the beginners class. Attendance for the class is mandatory. |
Essential Capabilities:
Designing, Creating, and Realizing, Intercultural Literacy Designing, creating, and realizing: The course teaches students primarily to perform, but also to discuss and analyze this specific music. Emphasis will be on the original design and presentation of certain genres and styles. A concert at the end of the semester will be part of the assignments.
Intercultural Literacy: By studying music from different nationality, ethnic group, or historical period, students will gain knowledge of cross-cultural encounter; hence promoting a comparative reflection.
