Anthropology of Aids

This course examines the human dimensions of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. We will study the disease from its emergence to the present day, including reactions and effects among particularly hard-hit communities, medical and scientific establishments, and bodies politic around the world. We will explore the social contexts of the disease's transmission and treatment, and local and international efforts to contain its effects.
