Refiguring the Body
COL 212
Spring 2007 not offered
Crosslisting: FGSS 213

Western thought has traditionally ignored or devalued the body in accounts of subjectivity. Over the last century, however, there has been increasing recognition of the crucial role it plays in relation to perception, cognition, action, and being. In this course we will trace the epistemological shift by exploring a range of foundational phenomenological, psychoanalytic, genealogical, neurological, and feminist theories of embodied subjectivity.
