Adolescence is marked by major changes in youths' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. This course examines these changes, taking an applied perspective to examine theory and current research.

Essential Capabilities: Effective Citizenship, Information Literacy
Effective Citizenship: Students will examine the role of societal and cultural influences on adolescent development. Further, students will critically evaluate political and judicial definitions of adolescence and how these definitions influence society¿s beliefs about and expectations of adolescents.

Information Literacy: Students will critically evaluate media sources related to adolescence, comparing these sources to theoretical and empirical investigation.
