Senior Colloquium: Environmental Studies
ENVS 391
Fall 2020
Section: 01   02   03   04

The senior colloquium will provide students and faculty the opportunity to engage with each senior about their capstone project. The diversity of interests and modalities of our senior majors enhances the interdisciplinary discourse and lively discussions that occur during our meetings. In the Fall 2020 semester, students will be divided into one of four small-group discussion sections. Prior to discussions, students will record a 10-minute presentation in which they can use visuals, videos about the topic and performances about the topic and strategies for their senior project. The students will also post online a reading to accompany their discussion and provide all participants with some background into their topic. Presenters will receive constructive feedback from each of the sections. In addition, we will work together on the development of research questions and abstracts for your projects. Our learning goals are to enhance the knowledge of each of the participants in the topics researched by the senior majors.

The course will be taught in four sections. Two sections will be an In-Person Accepting Remote Students course. Two sections of the course will be online only. All sections will be run using a blended synchronous simulcast lecture format. The course will be taught through synchronous delivery of pre-class content (videos, readings, podcasts, etc.) then simultaneous delivery of interactive/application activities to in-person or online synchronous groups. We will employ live-remote student patterning in class to provide a live discussion class format that will also be recorded for asynchronous viewing.
