This research methods course teaches experimental design and methods in experimental psychopathology using tools to conduct behavioral research in cognitive-affective neuroscience. Course material includes studies from the contemporary psychopathology research literature, with a focus on emotion interactions. Methods taught include statistical procedures (e.g., repeated measures ANOVA) and tools for carrying out research and analyzing data (e.g., computer programming for stimuli presentation and data processing). Students are expected to work independently in this course. |

Examinations and Assignments: Assignments may vary from term to term, but students should expect present orally selected studies from the research literature. Other expectations include mastering skills programming stimuli presentation using software (e.g., Pyscope), and competency scoring and analyzing behavioral (e.g., response time and memory recall) data. There are no exams; grades are based on lab assignments and the ability to work independently. |
