THEA 340
Spring 2011 not offered

Dedicated to the artistic works of the Brazilian post-dictatorship generation, the course takes as its point of departure a close reading of the modernist Oswald de Andrade's "Cannibalist Manifesto" (1928) and the writings of artists working during the dictatorship years. As the semester progresses, the course will examine post-dictatorship works in literature, the fine arts, dance, and theatre. Students will have access to examples in the form of texts in translation, images, and performance recordings.
