This course will focus on methods and techniques to study emotions in their social context, including emotional narratives, interviews, experiments with emotional stimuli (e.g., mood induction), surveys, and daily diaries. We will study which methods and techniques are best suited to study different positive and negative emotions. The course will give special attention to ethical issues in emotion research. |

Students will design studies on emotion with different methods and techniques.
The course will contribute to students' ability to understand and use methods to describe and analyze psychological phenomena.

Selected book chapters and classic and contemporary journal articles that illustrate the different methods and techniques to study emotion (drawn from journals such as EMOTION or COGNITION AND EMOTION); essays on research ethics.

Papers on designing studies on emotion with different methods and techniques, class presentations, and a final group project. |
