This is a feet-to-the-fire course that will introduce students to diverse methodologies for conducting research on riparian systems. The course will give students an opportunity to explore the Connecticut River, its ecology, culture, and history to understand the role it plays in our lives. Students will explore these topics through scientific data, hands-on learning, and movement. Course related research will be conducted in multiple ways to understand environmental topics. The course will be co-taught by Teaching Fellow Helen Poulos, and Creative Campus Fellow Jill Sigman, Artistic Director of jill sigman/thinkdance. The course will meet approximately once a week and will have a day-long intensive on Saturday, January 24 and a week-long intensive during spring break.
