Readings wiil include Elizabeth Kolbert's "THE SIXTH EXTINCTION", David Haskell's "THE FOREST UNSEEN", as well as many examples of writing from "THE NEW YORKER" and "THE NEW YORK TIMES".
|Examinations and Assignments: |
Assignments may include a news brief, a quick, light report on a quirky scientific discovery; a traditional op-ed or personal essay on an environmental subject; a script for brief narrated video; and editing choices for 90 seconds of video drawn from research. Also, a non-traditional blog post based on news conference; a quick, informal response and analysis of online, or telephone news conference; and a profile of a researcher or an environmentalist.
