This course is geared toward those students venturing into the earliest stages of an acting career. Emphasis will be placed on auditioning for film, television, and theater, finding opportunities in NYC, LA, and regional markets, cultivating a network, self-tapes, clarifying a mission statement, and logistics of the business (headshots, agents, casting directors, unions). The course will include talks with industry professionals, and students will leave the course with a tentative plan of action, including audition material and resources to facilitate the transition from the classroom into the professional world. Examinations and Assignments:
Course assignments will include self-taping to be submitted online, viewings of and written responses to online performances, films, documentaries and video tutorials. Mandatory attendance at a live-stream performances (provided) to be announced. |
Additional Requirements and/or Comments:
This course will be a hybrid course of asynchronous and synchronous classes offered on Zoom. A set meeting pattern will be determined based on student enrollment and time zones. Tentatively, the class will be Monday through Friday, 9a-11a and 4p-6p (subject to change). |
