There is a wide range of variability in sexuality and gender. This course reviews psychological research on the experiences of people with various sexualities, gender identities, and gender expressions, as well as how people come to develop beliefs about sexuality and gender. |

Additional Requirements and/or Comments: In recent years, our society has changed very rapidly in terms of how we view sexuality and gender. In this course, you will gain competency in understanding the diversity of people's experiences across the sexuality and gender spectrums. Topics include sexual and gender identity, the history of psychology's examination of sexual and gender diversity, biological approaches to understanding sexual and gender diversity (as well as critiques of this approach), intersections with sex and race, cross-cultural differences in sexual and gender diversity, mental health and well-being, prejudice against the LGBTQ+ community, and LGBTQ+ activism.
PSYC105 is a prerequisite. This is a column 2 Breadth Requirement course in Psychology.
The course will be based on lectures, multimedia content, and group discussions. |
